October 7th Postulancy

On the feast of Our Lady of the Rosary, October 7, 2021, Marie Cote was accepted as a postulant with the Sisters, Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

A native of Rhode Island, Marie came to know our Order through the Latin Mass community and attended Morning Star Camp for many years as a camper and counselor. Many family and friends attended the Mass, ceremony, and short celebration that followed. It was truly an event of joy and blessings… and the perfect way to celebrate the feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary!

Marie now begins a six month period of serious discernment, working and praying with the Sisters MICM.  Please keep her in your prayers!

Morning Star Idaho

We were excited to bring the Morning Star Camp program to Idaho again this past summer! The Sisters were hosted by the Saint Joan of Arc Parish for a overnight camp for girls at the nearby Ross Point facility, a day-camp at the parish and youth group gatherings and vocation talks.

Ironically, the Brothers MICM, were directing a Montfort Boys Camp in Idaho during the same week, but at a completely different part of the state! Find photos of both camps at our monastery website here.

40th Year of Morning Star Camp!

Morning Star Camp celebrates its 40th season this summer! Morning Star Camp 40th Anniversary

As we gather footage for a short anniversary video… we just cannot believe that time has flown by so fast. What started in borrowed military tents in the convent backyard in 1982, has now graduated to the log cabins at our own Montfort facility. Since we opened our own facility in 2008, we have welcomed thousands of campers from across the country in four different programs each summer. The second generation of campers are now attending… children of campers!

There is something irresistible about our simple program that makes it is so much more than just an average summer camp. It is a place where stories of Faith are shared, life-long friendships made, vocations sparked, and Catholic life vitalized. There isn’t anything in particular that “gets” campers… it’s everything. It’s all for Jesus through Mary. For 40 years Morning Star Camp has never been advertised, yet grows yearly… for one reason only: it is a program dear to the sweet heart of Our Lady. May she continue to bless her Morning Star campers, past, present and future!

Final Profession & Novitiate

The Queenship of Mary, May 31, 2021, was celebrated with full glory here at the monastery! At the Offertory of the Sung Mass for the feast, Sister Gabriel Marie made her Final Profession of Vows as a Slave of the Immaculate Heart of Mary. After signing her vows on the altar, Sister received the veil and crown of roses of a Bride of Christ. Thanks be to God, the travel restriction of the past year were lifted allowing most of Sister’s family to travel from as far as Arizona, Indiana and Ohio to be present at the event!

The Holy Sacrifice continued after the Profession Ceremony. Following the Communion Verse, postulant Christel Lim, was accepted as a Novice, receiving the habit and white veil of a novice, as well as a new name in religion: Sister Mary Anne. Sister now begins her two-year program of study and formation before First Vows. Over 50 viewers from Singapore watched the event live streamed, and joined with their sister and friend in heart and spirit.

A lovely cake, made by the Sister, was enjoyed after the event and a formal reception was held during the lunch hour. Enjoy a gallery of the ceremony below!

Monastery in Spring

It takes a while for spring to come to New England, but when it does, it’s always worth the wait! The month of May is always the loveliest 31 days! How perfect that this flower-filled month should be dedicated to Our Lady! Our hearts and souls sing her praises whether we are arranging a May Shrine in chapel or classroom, gardening, or preparing a crown for the May Procession!

Thanks to Dan & Marian Kelly (Sister Marie-Celine’s folks) the shrine at the entrance to the convent driveway is looking beautiful! They purchased, assembled and put up this lovely lattice arbor just in time for Mary’s month! Our Lady must have been very pleased with it… they didn’t hit one rock when they dug the post holes!!! That’s almost a miracle for New England! May the Queen of the May shower Dan & Marian with many blessings!
