May 13th Novice

Today we had the joy of welcoming a new novice into the community on the feast of Our Lady of Fatima! Marie Cote, a native of Rhode Island, completed her six months of Postulancy and was received as a Novice of the Sisters, Slaves of the Immaculate Heart of Mary at Mass this morning. Sister received the habit and white veil of a Novice and a new name in religion: Sister Maria Veronica!

Many of the Cote family, and extended family, were present at the ceremony and luncheon that followed. Now Sister enters into two years of formation in preparation for First Vows. Please join us in welcoming our new Novice, and keep her in your prayers! Perseverance, Sister Maria Veronica!

St Patrick’s Talent Night

The Sisters perform at our annual Saint Patrick’s Day Talent Night every year! It is always an enjoyable show of varied talent and good ol’ time Irish spirit! This year, the Sisters sang the songs “The Green Fields of France,” and “The Rambles of Spring.” Enjoy the performance in the videos below.

The Talent Night was held on the feast of Saint Joseph this year! Read more about the festive evening we had for both Saints on the Saint Benedict Center site here.

Sisters on Skates

This winter, our Sisters have enjoyed some ice skating during afternoon recreation! No sooner was school out than Sisters were grabbing their skates and heading not to a rink, but the flooded (and frozen) fields in the valley and the abutting conservation land. It made for some lovely skating, as you will see below! Enjoy the video!

Morning Star Over Texas

On February 19 and 21, 2022, two Sisters directed a Morning Star Mini-Camp in El Paso, Texas!

Morning Star camp in El Paso TXHosted by Immaculate Conception Parish, the Sisters brought the Marian spirit of the camp to about forty girls from the parish. The two-day schedule included everything from Mass and Rosary to arts & crafts, sports, singing, and the highlight event—ribbon dancing!

Everyone had a great time, and we look forward to returning in the future. Special thanks to Fr. O’Neill, Nicholla Arriola, the Knights of Columbus, and all the moms who helped make this event possible! We couldn’t have done it without you. Additional thanks to Our Lady of the Assumption Parish for allowing us to use their school facilities for this event. May Our Lady Morning Star guide and bless you and all her campers!

Monastery in Winter

We are blessed to have four beautiful seasons here at our monastery! Winter (although cold) can be visually glorious. Our grounds are lovely in all seasons, but there is a special magnificence to those days when all is adorned with a fresh New England snowfall!

Our Sisters MICM Facebook page has featured some lovely photos of our life and the seasons here at the monastery over the years. We wanted to share a few here from our recent winter weather. We hope you enjoy them! Click to enlarge!
