With Thankful Hearts

The autumn colors have come and gone here in New England! What a blessing it is to live in a place with four beautiful seasons; it provides a daily source of meditation throughout the year.

At the monastery, we celebrate Thanksgiving Day with a traditional meal, generously donated each year by our Third Order members. It always turns into a fabulous feast, lovingly prepared by a team of Sisters in the kitchen! On that day, we took the time to pray for all our family, friends, benefactors, students, and campers. We hope you all had a wonderful autumn and Thanksgiving! Enjoy some fall photos below!

“In all created things, discern the providence and wisdom of God, and in all things, give Him thanks.”
– St. Teresa of Avila.

Morning Star Away Camps 2025

Our Morning Star Camp program has been a cherished summer tradition for Catholic girls for over 40 years. However, each year, we face a waiting list of eager campers, as our space is limited. So, when parishes or co-ops request the Morning Star Camp in their communities, we strive to make it happen. Through our “Away Camps,” we bring our proven program to new states and facilities while preserving the spirit of Morning Star. Whether it’s an overnight or day camp, Morning Star Camp offers the same fantastic program, joyful spirit, and devotion to Mary.

Washington State

The parishes of Saint Joseph and North American Martyrs in Washington State have collaborated for the past few years to bring MSC to the Pacific Northwest. Three Sisters directed the overnight camp program at the All Saints Camp facility on Raft Island from June 8-12, 2025. It was a joy to be with this wonderful group of campers and counselors again!

Colorado

The second year of MSC took place in Colorado from July 28 to August 1, 2025! Our Lady of Mount Carmel parish sponsored four Sisters to lead a day-camp program in the west for 105 happy campers. It was a great week in a beautiful part of the country! Morning Star Campers shine everywhere!

Indiana

It was our joy to bring the Morning Star Camp program back to Indiana this September for the happy campers from Sacred Heart Parish in Fort Wayne. Three Sisters directed the overnight camp program at Pokagon State Park from September 16-20, 2025. A giant Thank You to all the parish volunteers that heped out in so many ways!

Louisiana

The 2025 Morning Star Camp in Louisiana was held from November 5 to November 8, 2025, at the Camp Abbey facility in Covington, LA. It’s always refreshing to fly south at this time of year and still find green grass and warm weather! It is always a joy to bring Morning Star to this spirited and faithful group of happy campers! God bless the lovely ladies who made this great camp happen once again!

Preparing Montfort for Winter

After our annual Fall Bazaar, some of the Sisters took advantage of the long Columbus Day weekend to head up North to the camp to begin closing things up for the winter. The rainy holiday provided a perfect opportunity for indoor work, so the Sisters busied themselves cleaning the kitchen, dining hall, recreation hall, and the priest’s cabin. Once their work was finished for the day, they enjoyed spending time by the fire in Sacred Heart Lodge and taking walks amidst the autumn foliage.

The next day, five more Sisters arrived to help move picnic tables, protect outdoor statues by bringing them inside, and pack up any extra food. While it may not have been the most colorful fall we’ve experienced at Montfort, it is always exciting to witness the changes that occur on these beautiful grounds outside of the camp season!

Catholic Identity Conference 2025

The Sisters participated in the Catholic Identity Conference held in Pittsburgh, PA, from October 3 to 5, 2025. It was a powerful weekend featuring four holy bishops, along with priests, religious, and laity from around the world. Everyone was united in their love for the truths of the Faith and the Holy Mass. We were especially joyful to participate since Sister Mary Clair, MICM, was one of the speakers. Her talk was titled “The Life that is Light: Bringing Christ into the World.” The three days were filled with inspiring presentations that left all participants encouraged and determined to pray diligently and live out their Catholic faith. We extend our gratitude to everyone who contributed to the conference’s great success!

Women’s Retreat 2025

The Sisters hosted our annual Women’s Retreat at the Montfort facility from September 13 to 14, 2025. With the fall foliage beginning to appear around the beautiful grounds, the retreat offered an opportunity for prayer, reflection, camaraderie, and even some crafts. It was an enjoyable and spiritually refreshing experience for everyone involved.
